Dhangethi is situated in south Ari atoll, around 90 km from Male, and is home to some 1000 inhabitants. Having a snow-white sand beaches on either side, this beautiful, green island is famed for its underwater fauna, traditional fishing and ancient art of ship building. The island offers number of guest houses of varying degree of comfort, cafes and restaurants, and local-made crafts at souvenir shops.
Despite all this, the main attraction for tourists is its beaches, the far stretching coral reef, and its fauna and flora. Dhangethi boasts number of close by dive sites, especially whale shark point, and other popular sites include Dhangethi Beyru, Dhangethi Corner, Vakaru Beru Thila, Medhu Thila, Thinfushi Ethere Thila, and Hani Thila.
