Keyodhoo is one of the inhabited island in Vaavu atoll, a beautiful home for about 800 people, lying less than a kilometre south of the atoll capital Felidhoo and 79 km away from country’s capital Male’. Despite being a small island of about 7 hectare the island is equipped with basic facilities such as a school, hospital, groceries and coffee shops.
Vaavu atoll is largely known for its rich underwater flora and fauna, world class dive sites; some famous dive site include Alimatha house reef, Fotheyo Kandu and Golden Wall. Numerous cruisers make frequent tour in the atoll and locals from other areas, especially from Male’ region, visit here trying their luck in recreation fishing. Cruisers and fishing boats make repeated visit to the island and the community welcome them warmly.
Just like other islands in the atoll Keyodhoo too is famed for traditional music and dance (Boduberu, Thaara and Lan’giri) and they perform upon request. This could be a rare chance to experience our ancient art, unique drum beats and peculiar dancing steps.
The island community care a lot to keep the nature clean and safe, and understanding the fact plastic bags harm the environment and taking thousands of years to degrade, they replaced single use plastic bags with a less harmful cotton bags. In an effort to aware the community towards preserving nature, the island council initiated setting up underwater museum in its lagoon which will eventually bring global recognition to the island.

Number of ferries run between Keyodhoo and Male’ frequently, offering choices for travellers to select either fast or slow ride. Slow ferry takes 5 hours to reach, and speed boat ferry reaches in about 90 minutes.
