Number of people engage in tourism business has increased in recent years as the island runs 3 guest houses and half a dozen are under construction. Guest houses not only offer accommodation but various other exciting activities and thrilling excursions.
Vaavu atoll is outspokenly an unharmed natural beauty. Its rich environment, abundant flora and fauna, and scenic underwater surrounding made it gain a global recognition. In fact the atoll boasts 20 world class dive sites, where dive safaris made frequent visits.
Almost two third of the island has been used for the village, and there are hundreds of commonly found plants, undisturbed and thickly grown; and among them a banyan tree proudly stood up, witnessing all the sorrows and joys the island had for 3 and a half century. Arguably there’s nothing standing older than this milestone banyan tree in the island and considering its significance the tree is determined protected.
Couple of ferries run between Felidhoo and Male’ frequently. Slow boat ferrying every other day takes about 5 and half hours to reach. Alternatively two or three speed boat ferries are available which reaches in about 1 and half hour.
